The Best Tables on the Riviera Have No Floor.

Somewhere between your third rosé and the moment the sun hits the water at exactly the right angle, you will understand why people come back to the French Riviera every year for the rest of their lives. That moment almost always happens at a table in the sand.

Not a table near the beach. Not a table with a view of the beach. A table on the beach — where the waiter navigates the sand in dress shoes, your feet are buried somewhere underneath your chair, and nobody is entirely sure where lunch ends and the afternoon begins.

This is that list. From the Promenade des Anglais to the hidden coves of Théoule and Miramar, these are the restaurants where the floor is optional and the Mediterranean is right there. Shoes off. Wine poured. Welcome to lunch.

Beach Restaurants Grid — Côte d'Azur Rentals

Nice

The Promenade des Anglais — pebbles, not sand, but nobody's complaining.

Cannes

From the Croisette's private beaches to the laid-back western shore.

Croisette · ⭐ 4.5 · 3 000+ avis · Chic
Cannes · Boulevard de la Croisette

Mademoiselle Gray — Barrière

The Croisette's most elegant private beach, attached to the Hôtel Barrière Le Gray d'Albion. Creative Mediterranean cuisine — think truffle hummus, coriander falafel, grilled prawns on a bed of peas — with a resident DJ and service that actually lives up to the setting. Closed Mondays. The kind of place where a long lunch becomes an entire afternoon without anyone noticing.

Croisette · ⭐ 4.6 · Service & Views
Cannes · 45 Boulevard de la Croisette

Hyde Beach

Rated 4.6 right on the Croisette — the atmosphere here is what makes it: a terrace that feels genuinely stylish without being intimidating, attentive service, and cocktails that earn their reputation. The food is good, fresh, and well-prepared. Best experienced for a long lunch that starts sunny and ends with the evening lights coming on over the bay. Book a sunbed if you want the full experience.

Sand · ⭐ 4.4 · Fresh catch · West Cannes
Cannes · Boulevard du Midi Louise Moreau

Le Cabanon

Away from the Croisette crowds, on the quieter western shore of Cannes — and better for it. Tables right on the sand, wild-caught tuna pulled from the water in front of you, and a team that opens early and welcomes you like family. The steak tartare and the crispy fries are apparently non-negotiable. Reviewers consistently describe it as the best beach lunch in the area. Believe them.

Antibes & Juan-les-Pins

Sandy beaches, clear water, and some of the most relaxed dining on the Riviera.

Mandelieu-la-Napoule

A beautiful bay, a sandy shore, and three very good reasons to stay for lunch.

Beachfront · ⭐ 4.4 · Best in Mandelieu
Mandelieu · 273 Avenue Henry Clews

Le Boucanier

Consistently described as the best restaurant in Mandelieu, right next to the beach on Avenue Henry Clews. Ultra-fresh fish, an excellent steak tartare, generous portions, and a terrace that earns its reputation year-round. Open every day from 8:30am to 10pm, which makes it one of the most flexible options on this list. The octopus salad and the sea bream both get specific mentions in almost every review.

Beach Club · ⭐ 4.2 · Families · Port de la Rague
Mandelieu · Port de la Rague

Baia Plage

A private sandy beach club at Port de la Rague — private parking, a children's play area, reasonable prices, and a kitchen that takes itself seriously. One of the best family options on this list without feeling like you're compromising on anything. The twin brothers running the beach service get their own fan mail in the reviews. Open daily until 5pm. Arrive early for a good spot.

Crique · ⭐ 4.4 · Local & relaxed
Mandelieu · Port de la Rague

Plage des Îles

A small, sheltered crique right at Port de la Rague — calm water, safe for children, and a kitchen run by a chef who makes seriously good food in a seriously small space. The menu is short and seasonal. Regulars make up a large part of the clientele, which is always a good sign. Open daily until 6pm. Not glamorous. Entirely charming. The kind of beach lunch you remember for years.

Théoule-sur-Mer & Miramar

The Corniche de l'Estérel begins here — red rocks, turquoise water, and some genuinely excellent tables.

Seafront · ⭐ 4.5 · Bouillabaisse · Book 48h ahead
Théoule · 1 Promenade de la Darse

Chez Philippe

The bouillabaisse here arrives in a boat, with the whole fish presented tableside before serving. Book it 48 hours in advance — it's worth the planning. Right on the seafront in Théoule village, with waves lapping in the background and oysters, sole meunière, and fresh catch rounding out a menu that knows exactly what it is. Closed Mondays. One of the most memorable meals on this list.

Sea view · ⭐ 4.4 · Great value
Théoule · 1 Avenue Charles Dahon

Les Voiles de Théoule

A warm, unpretentious restaurant with spectacular sea views and a kitchen that consistently punches above its price point. The seafood pasta is packed with shellfish, portions are generous, and the staff are the kind of genuinely friendly that makes you want to come back the next day — which reviewers frequently do. Open every day, lunch and dinner (Sunday lunch only). Reasonable prices for the Riviera, which is worth noting.

Beach Club · ⭐ 4.4 · Open year-round
Miramar · Port de la Figueirette

La Joya Beach

Beach Club · ⭐ 4.4 · Open year-round

A beautifully set up beach club at the charming Port de la Figueirette — open every day including in winter, when the hot chocolate is Italian-style and the cocktails are arguably better than in summer. The beach is clean, the staff are welcoming to families, and the music sets the mood without overwhelming it. A perfect half-day spot on the way to or from the Estérel.

Crique · ⭐ 4.2 · Familial · Lunch & dinner
Miramar · Port de la Figueirette

Le Panama

A small bay restaurant in Miramar with tables right on the beach, an excellent seafood platter, and a Niçois platter worth ordering twice. The service is relaxed and attentive — reviewers consistently praise it as better than much pricier beach clubs nearby. Lunch and dinner daily. The kind of place you stumble on by accident and then deliberately come back to every year.
